Eye for an Eye (2019)

English It’s been a while since I saw a screenplay that would put an emphasis on an accidental but fated meeting of two people, a meeting that can totally change their lives. I don’t know why but I generally really like this kind of premise and enjoy movies based on it. And this Spanish thriller has that kind of premise as well. It is just a pity that the storyline isn’t worth the 5-star rating, otherwise I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. Still it is a really interesting thriller in which Luis Tosar’s acting skills were the best.

The One Who Loved You (2018)

English Jan Pachl became famous for his great and appropriately gloomy crime movies and series only to jump into a totally different genre and attempt to film a family comedy, what’s more based on a book written by Marie Poledňáková. I don’t know if it was his idea or if he was forced into it by his sponsors, but the overacting that ordinarily works in comedies in theater can never work in a movie. How is it possible that such movies are still made in my country? The only positive thing about this movie is its Christmas atmosphere, it’s been a long time since I saw so much snow in one place. And Eva Holubová.

V síti 18+ (2020)

English Even though sometimes I have no idea what to think about Vít Klusák, I have to admit that this is the ideal documentary with everything a good documentary should have. It covers the topic that I know nothing about, attempts to address it, confronts the participants, sometimes there is some action and it has a real documentary value. Moreover, I have a feeling that after this project the world might become a better place.

Nobody Knows I'm Here (2020)

English When I saw the trailer and heard the child screaming I had a feeling that this movie would be total shit. In this case it is better not to take into consideration its trailer that looks like something out of Muńeca brava and just go for it. As a reason you can use Jorge Garcia who stars in this movie and whom I got to like many years ago when he starred in Lost. He was the one thing that interested me so much that I was able to overlook the crazy trailer and gave it a chance. And in the end I have to say it wasn’t that bad. Although the movie is quite intimate and really silent, it is a perfect fit for Jorge’s character. It forces you to think about his character, give him some space and even though from time to time the movie will make you fall asleep for a moment, the final answer to stigmata of the past is more than satisfying.

Dry Martina (2018)

English Antonella Costa is probably quite a vamp because this movie is filled with erotic scenes. That unfortunately doesn’t mean that it is filled with quality as well. Quality is what is missing here and I have to say that I was quite bored.

All the Freckles in the World (2019)

English Childhood loves in combination with Mexican soccer in a slightly B-rated movie style. Nothing that would make me crazy about it or at least enjoy it.

Truth or Dare (2018)

English As if I was watching Final Destination with uninteresting murder moments. Nevertheless the ending was, if nothing else, quite shocking.

Desperados (2020)

English Desperados are desperate, and therefore they do desperate things. And while watching this I was desperate as well because I was hoping for a nice comedy that makes you laugh and it doesn’t matter whether you are gender neutral or not but this one is a typical chick flick.

Rise of the Office Workers (2020)

English Another one from the list of Netflix productions that you would play just as a chill-out movie, only to be pleasantly surprised that it captivated you for an hour and a half and you are unexpectedly enjoying the original premise and quite inventive production.

The Old Guard (2020)

English At first glance Old Guard looked like a totally great action movie but it is quite the opposite. It is totally dumb starting with its premise, dominated by extremely unpleasant Charlize Theron but which has an unexpectedly quite solid fighting scenes. What can I say – Old Guard isn’t Mad Max for Charlize to behave in the same way to achieve a totally different result.
