The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (2016)

English Boxing movies simply aren't bad, and that goes for this Finnish one, shot in black and white, although it's definitely not for everyone. On one hand, it's very artistic, but on the other hand, it shows boxing in a slightly different light - not just as an adrenaline-fueled, tough sport, but also as a facade that can be quite cruel to athletes.

The Wrong Side of Right (2016)

English A film about how dogs are beautiful creatures - about that, I won't argue - and how we should love them, about which I also won't argue. But it's presented as an idealistic, naive film about justice prevailing, and everything turning out well, and no one getting hurt. I just can't believe that and it has no real effect on me.

Unlocked (2017)

English Noomi Rapace just captivates me, in any film, but here she has a pretty cool modern action spy movie at her disposal, with a good pace that doesn't bore. Alongside the great Noomi, interesting colleagues help ensure that any shallowness in the plot remains mostly forgotten. A good thriller.

Risk (2016)

English Freedom is something that was fought for in the world wars, but also after them, and the worst part is that we're still fighting for it because it's denied to us or to some for various reasons. Julian Assange is proof of that. And, in fact, so is the whole WikiLeaks thing. I still don't have freedom in what information we get or can pass on. Is that really a good thing? And is it good that people who just want to inform suffer? A good, personal documentary.

The Blackcoat's Daughter (2015)

English The finale may seem frantic and hurried; it's a significant change in pace, although even here there are slowdowns. But it is definitely possible to say that the denouement of February will surprise you. You'll get the sense that this is a film from a horror enthusiast, but you won't necessarily be satisfied with the overall feel of the film. Some viewers will leave cranky, and I can understand that. This isn't a great mindfuck in the vein of The Sixth Sense or The Others.

Going in Style (2017)

English This trio simply could not disappoint. They are all such great actors, and with the addition of others who appear here, this simply had to be a film that would entertain the audience, impress them, but above all, allow them to empathize with the characters and their behavior. It happened, and I'm leaving with a pleasant experience from watching it.

Lowriders (2016)

English Quite a well-captured environment, but not very gritty, which perhaps bothered me a bit. It's as if the film is more of a tea party than a truly gritty neighborhood drama. But lowriders have something special about them, and I've always liked them. Maybe that's why it's a pity that they don't play a slightly more important role in the film.

Fun Mom Dinner (2017)

English I don't really enjoy these movies about women with children who need a little shake-up, but then it turns into something else. Firstly, because it's not usually very funny, and secondly, because it's quite repetitive. And this is a bit repetitive too, but it has to be admitted that there are occasional funny moments, but unfortunately not very often.

Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)

English Jim Varney clearly revels in disguises, which in this installment really take up quite a bit of space, whether they're disguises within the plot or various members of Ernest's family. You have to hand it to Jim for being able to work with kids and for making his films for them. This one has a bit of a horror feel to it though, and great masks.

Instinct de tueur (2017)

English I enjoy these relatively cheap B-movies where a few familiar faces appear. The plot is not complicated, but it's a simple plot where someone usually needs to be saved or protected. Hayden Christensen saves his son, Bruce Willis plays a cop. It doesn't have bad characters, but rather minor ones.
