In December 1956 sixteen-year-old Dániel, following his lover who prepares to go to America, leaves for the West. He is accompanied by Gyuri from their house, who has to flee for he participated in the armed resistance. Those wishing to cross the border wait for their guide in the hotel of the border town. The father of Gyuri works here in the garage, who joins forces with the security man despite his experiences in the prison of Rákosi to keep the drunken ruffians at bay. After the night "danse macabre" everybody gets on the truck and leaves for the border, except for Dániel who takes the train to Budapest. Gyuri suddenly follows his example, then he jumps out of the already running train and is killed outright. (official distributor synopsis)
