When his wealthy male lover dumps him, Erwin Weishaupt makes a desperate attempt to win his man back by having a sex change operation. But the sacrifice is doomed to failure, and as time passes, the doubly-rejected Erwin, now Elvira, is beaten down by the cruelties and utter loneliness of her life.
