It is December, 1941, and Royce (Elissa Landi) has traveled to the Philippine Islands to find Dr. Jan Stockman (Otto Kruger) with plans of marriage. The two tie the knot and are soon caught up in combat as the Japanese seize the island - both advancing on land and dropping bombs from the air. The newlyweds, with a group of American soldiers, make their way to Corregidor by boat, where the war steadily escalates and Royce runs into her old beau Michael, whose love for her remains strong. Despite the emotional turmoil, all of their energies become focused on providing medical assistance to the heroic soldiers, who try desperately to fend off the bloody attacks of the Japanese invaders.
