An aged cowboy begins to explain: there are two types of men, leaders and followers. Meanwhile, a Mexican woman is raving on about how America changed her life for the better, and a female war veteran proudly presents her gun, which she has aptly named "black beauty". The setting is the Autumn of 2016 in Seligman, a town located in the middle of the Arizona Desert. The presidential elections are just around the corner. Located on the legendary Route 66, this small town at the gates of the Grand Canyon once faced a grand future. Currently, however, after the construction of a nearby highway, only 450 people earning an average of 2737 USD are living here. Director Claus Drexel visited the remaining residents in their houses asking questions such as: What does the American Dream mean to them? And what do they expect from a man like Donald Trump? Immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the landscape, America reveals the very personal hopes and fears of people living on the margins of society. (Zurich Film Festival)
