The 1920s, Tokyo. Before the demolition of Ryounkaku, Japan's first ever western style skyscraper, and the beginning of World War II, Japanese operetta devotees flooded the streets of Asakusa. Day after day enthusiastic fans filled the seats of the theatre, cheering on their favorite actors. When Reiko (Sayuri Yoshinaga) first arrived at Tokyo, she'd never dreamed that she would one day be a part of such a glamorous world. But a scout named Kureko, thought different. (Nikkatsu)
