A detailed socio-political analysis of events from the 1970 elections, when Salvador Allende became president of Chile, to his violent overthrow three years later, when General Pinochet took power. This collective film, with Marker contributing primarily as author of the film’s commentary, is based a dialectic approach according to which frequently random events develop through the clash of opposing sides, and historical developments take on the form of a spiral.
