This is a propaganda film about the Hungarian Air Force. The story begins with the love stories of three young amateur pilots, captain Torday, Bandi and Pista. After the outbreak of war, captain Torday, who is working in an aircraft factory, is approached by a spy, who is eventually caught. What used to be a pastime for the young men having formerly flown coloured amateur planes, has now become a dangerous military mission by having to fly metal-gray fighters, the three of them soon ending up in front-line position. Bandi, who was coward at the beginning returns home with honour. Torday is wounded in an air battle and is next seen by Mária, his fiancée, in hospital. As for Jutka, she is waiting in vain for her fiancé to return, the young man has, in the meantime, been killed in action. (official distributor synopsis)
