A love story, set shortly after the end of World War I. In 1919, in a German town, Anna (Paula Beer) goes every day to visit the tomb of her fiancé, who died on the French warfront. One day a young Frenchman (Pierre Niney) arrives to place flowers on the same tomb, that of his German friend, his companion in the darkest hours, which Pierre is trying to forget. The encounter shakes the lives of these two young people, rekindling doubts and fears, and forcing each of them to come to terms with their own feelings. Two characters whose youth has been brutally wrenched from their hands and who are awkwardly trying to recover some of the serenity they have lost. (Venice International Film Festival)
