A pregnant woman is buried alive on a beach on an island off Sweden's west coast. The ruthless murder remains unsolved and nearly forgotten until years later when aspiring police officers are tasked with studying the case over the summer. One students finds that she is personally connected to the crime and becomes determined to unearth the young victim's tragic fate.
