Czech painter and illustrator Zdeněk Burian – best known for his drawings of Quaternary dinosaurs (which among other things inspired Karel Zeman in his film Journey to the Beginning of Time) and his scenes of Neolithic mammoth hunters (the books of Eduard Štorch) – was also interested in the life and culture of North American Indians. For his sensitive miniature, the young director has created several short stories using Burian’s illustrations, and set them to excerpts from Dvořák’s New World Symphony.
