Feature puppetanimated sci-fi musical The famous dog pioneer is alive! A little planet at the fringe of the galaxy has become the new home to all animals that had been shot into space and lost forever. Quite a bizarre story for a puppetanimated musical. Laika’s life at the periphery of a Russian city is not easy. After being caught, she is forcefully trained to be a pioneer of cosmonautics. Soon after Laika’s launch, more animals follow the same path, being hurriedly sent into space from Houston and Baikonur. The animals aimlessly wonder through space and eventually end up travelling through a black hole and happily settling on a faraway planet. After the animals’ living there undisturbed and in harmony with local creatures for some time, two human astronauts somehow fi nd their way to the planet. It is fascinating how humans regard themselves as far more important than any other creature on Earth. How they decide about other creatures’ fates, especially in the name of science. (Anifilm)
