Plots(1)

When Susan Murphy is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled a "Monster" named Ginormica. The military jumps into action, and she is captured and held in a secret government compound filled with other "monsters" like herself. This ragtag group consists of the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, P.H.D.; the macho half-Ape-half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement time is cut short however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to save the world from imminent destruction. English A fun cartoon, full of references to old sci-fi movies of the 1950s. The story is a mixture of various crackpot ideas (typical examples of this are the heroic president and his keyboard, red buttons and the wonderful B.O.B.) and how a daydreaming girl becomes a woman. The invasion of aliens is really just a catalyst for the events that follow. What annoys me is that in the movie theatre I was robbed of the original voices (Bauer and House M.D. in a movie together!) and even though the Czech dubbing was pretty well-done, I look forward to watching it on DVD in English. E.T. GO HOME! ()

English For all the tripping up, dancing around and hitting of heads with a imaginable things, they forgot about... Well, about everything, in fact. All hail the exceptions in the form of the original dubbing, what was written on the rocket and those few good nods to the monster/UFO B-movies of the fifties. ()

English In terms of entertainment and jokes, I think it’s unexpectedly weak. I can’t complain about the animation or the story, which again brings something new and surprisingly tries to push the envelope quite a lot. Unfortunately, though, I don’t remember anything particularly interesting or amusing during the film, or a character that I grew to love, which I perceive as a big flaw in these animated films. A level below Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. ()

English A pleasant, animated blockbuster that parodies a large group of American sci-fi and horror film productions. It is not as strong in terms of plot as it is with a series of catchphrases, a likable team of heroes, and a villainous antagonist. Overall impression: 70%. One of those movies that will please children and not offend adults. ()

English Even after ten years, I still find this animated film entertaining. Sure, the story isn’t as sophisticated as Toy Story, but it's much more action-packed (and not in the usual dumb way), it contains a lot of great one-liners (especially by Link and B.O.B.), only the main villain seemed rather weak. Fortunately, the president and the doctor's crazy laugh were excellent. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! ()
