Plots(1)

When Susan Murphy is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled a "Monster" named Ginormica. The military jumps into action, and she is captured and held in a secret government compound filled with other "monsters" like herself. This ragtag group consists of the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, P.H.D.; the macho half-Ape-half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement time is cut short however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to save the world from imminent destruction. English The ultimate blast! Instead of the tired self-awareness stories, the creators of Shrek came up with an action-packed blockbuster that's bursting with references (I was screaming with laughter at the keyboard!), great humor, and a punishingly huge barrage of catchphrases. It’s ninety-four minutes of undiluted entertainment that will be appreciated especially by the older folks (those who enjoy the aesthetics of 1950s monster movies will snort with delight). Cartoon of the year, no question about it! ()

English A pleasant, animated blockbuster that parodies a large group of American sci-fi and horror film productions. It is not as strong in terms of plot as it is with a series of catchphrases, a likable team of heroes, and a villainous antagonist. Overall impression: 70%. One of those movies that will please children and not offend adults. ()

English Even after ten years, I still find this animated film entertaining. Sure, the story isn’t as sophisticated as Toy Story, but it's much more action-packed (and not in the usual dumb way), it contains a lot of great one-liners (especially by Link and B.O.B.), only the main villain seemed rather weak. Fortunately, the president and the doctor's crazy laugh were excellent. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! ()

English This week there were quite a few animated movies, but it's true that I was looking forward to "Monsters vs. Aliens" for a long time. After all, I was quite curious to hear the voices of actors like Seth Rogen or Hugh Laurie. Additionally, the title seemed quite promising. True, I was expecting a slightly rougher film that wouldn't just be ordinary family entertainment, but I still think that the characters were modeled in such an interesting way that it's not a complete waste of time. For fans of B-movies, there are quite a few references that can make you smile. The storyline is quite good, really like a B-movie sci-fi. A woman wants to marry her dream man, but her day is slightly ruined when he tells her that there will be no dream trip to Paris, and instead they will just go to Fresno, California, which is definitely not the biggest city of all. Nor the most interesting. But even the wedding doesn't happen, as a meteorite suddenly comes from space and hits the future bride. Fortunately, she survives, surprisingly, but everyone at the ceremony witnesses a strange event. The bride starts to glow. And then she suddenly starts growing. To literally enormous proportions. An army instantly surrounds her and pacifies her. They discover that there are more monsters, creatures that were created by an experiment, but she is the only one that still looks human. Also the only one that the alien and his hundreds of clones are after. Like I said, it's like a great B-movie and that's what it resembles the most. The monster characters are interesting enough to appeal to the audience, although the villain is not particularly outstanding, but that's not a problem. The tricks he uses are deadly enough. Of course, the story has to have a clear script, there's nothing really new here, so the biggest surprise is that the protagonist starts growing at the beginning. But nothing too revolutionary, right? Ultimately, it's a decent movie that doesn't impress with anything significantly new, but manages to captivate with its characters and their humor. English I don't know, it wasn't all that great. I was probably expecting this cartoon to be more "adult", with more sci-fi references and stuff, which I shouldn't have done. Instead, I got a nicely made fairy tale with (another in a series... God, slow down already!) moral lessons that went by quickly, but most of it didn't really stick in my head. The most sympathetic character from the team of "good guys" is definitely the (semi)crazy Dr. Cockroach, but the aliens are the ones that entertained me the most in Monsters vs. Aliens. Especially their leader - a wonderfully slimy, evil bastard. A perfect film for children, whilst adults only need to see it once. Too bad I’m not a kid anymore - everything would be so pretty, colorful, cute, and in 3D to boot! ()
