1903, circus arena. Slomo, the old clown, has twins born: Dodó and Naftalin, who already as children feature in the circus with highly acclaimed acrobatic shows. Due to an accident, Naftalin gets a limp for the rest of his life, and Dodó takes life-long reponsibility for his younger brother. They are inseparable, and later on Dodó wouldn't yield to his lover Lizi's protests against the eternal co-traveller. In 1944 Naftalin's improvized action causes their father's death, while in 1953 he causes Dodó to get to prison. In 1956 Naftalin frees him, but his fellow-traveller Pipitér is killed by a stray bullet, and he falls into melancholy. Thus they both stay in the country. In 1973 Naftalin is released from prison, they scrape along with a travelling troupe as unwelcome old people, until Lizi turns up at the side of a rich Dutchman. (HungariCom)
