Ördög Sára who is Angyal Liszka's mother killed her husband 16 years ago because he tormented her with his jealousy. She was sentenced to prison and Liszka doesn't know whether she is alive or not. Liszka was brought up by his uncle. After his death she goes to the town and became a servant at Kontra's house. Miklós, Mrs. Kontra's son from her first marriage falls in love with her and he wants to marry her. One day Mr. Kontra who also likes the pretty girl started to hug her and Mrs. Kontra steps into the room. She becomes angry and she decides to call the police and send her away from the town as an undiserable person. During the time when she is at the police station an old vagabond Mrawcsák steels their money and jewelery. Liszka was suspected of carrying out this robbery. The girl is escorted to Torocko (her birthplace). She decides to commit suicide. She goes to the pub to swallow the poison in wine. In the pub she meets Mrawcsák and Ördög Sára, who has already got free and spends her time here searching peace of hear soul. Liszka drinks the half of the poisoned wine starts to dance with Mrawcsák because she wants to die joyfully. She notices that the old man has the Kontra's jewellery. She promises love to him in order to get the jewellery back. Ördög Sára wants to save her from the sin by telling her own case. Liszka realises that Ördög Sára is her mother. She falls down in a faint. Ördög Sára is also very shocked, and she drinks the other half of Liszka's poisoned wine. Mother and her daughter are dying in one another arms. Ördög Sára dies. Liszka is taken to hospital and her life is saved. After her recovery Miklós marry her. (official distributor synopsis)
