Barna Zsuzsi, a nice girl, daughter of the wealthiest farmer in the village has two well-to-do suitors, both having proposed to her already. Zsuzsi, however, does not seem interested. She is in love with Vihar András, a poor but cheerful lad, who is frowned upon by her parents. The disappointed young man joins the army as a draftee. On the front, he saves the life of Barna János, Zsuzsi's brother, while he himself gets wounded. They end up in the house of a Russian peasant, who turns out to be András's uncle, who disappeared in the World War I, and is now living with Tatiana, his beautiful daughter. The four of them return to Hungary. Zsuzsi, whom her parents want to marry Bakony István, decides not to obey her parents' order and marries András, while János marries Tatiana.
