The Kneeling Goddess tells a relatively schematic tale of a love triangle formed by a beautiful model (María Félix), her aristocratic lover (Arturo de Córdova), and his angelic but gravely ill wife (Rosario Granados). An unexpectedly significant role in this classic arrangement is played by a statue – the Kneeling Goddess of the title – which symbolises the burning passion from which the duo of lovers vainly searches for protection.
