At the dead of night on May 12th 1962, a young yachtsman sets sail from Osaka. His name is Kenichi Horie. On his yacht named the “Mermaid” destined for San Francisco, he embarks on a solo-mission to cross the savage blues of the Pacific. Against inclement weather and bad cabin fever, Kenichi's strength of will is put to the test. Only in the deepest silence of solitude can one's truth be heard. (Nikkatsu)
