Plots(1)
Taiwanese relationship dramas are not as renowned as their Japanese counterparts, but they share many similarities. The captivating piano accompaniment, emphasis on pauses, and narration between the lines remind us of Kim Ki-duk's pictures. Rather than relying on dialogue, the slow narrative about two young lovers focuses on the emotions concealed in facial gestures and glances. Perfect lighting and hypnotic camera explain a lot, yet even more remains hidden. The film is as clear as the water where the ever-present aquarium fish slowly swim and play an important symbolic part. (Febiofest)
