Born into a Majorcan family of farmers, Miguel Adrover emigrated to New York in the 1990s where he found the perfect environment for the creation of his avant-garde fashion. He caused a small sensation in the fashion world when he presented an inside-out Burberry coat at the New York Fashion Week in 2000. This highly anticipated show helped Adrover seal a partnership with a financially solid company – but less than a year later his luck changed dramatically. The eccentric fashion designer presented a new collection inspired by Middle Eastern themes just two days before the fall of the Twin Towers on September 9, 2001. He was immediately branded a terrorist sympathiser and the financial support stopped overnight. Having returned to Majorca, Adrover now leads a secluded life working outside the limelight – but with continuing success. (Zurich Film Festival)
