Biography
Marcel Gisler was born in Altstätten in 1960. He studied theatre and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin. In 1985, he made the film Day Thieves, which was awarded a Pardo d’argento in Locarno. Both his later Fögi Is a Bastard and Rosie won the Swiss Film Award in 1999 and 2013, respectively. Marcel Gisler also wrote some episodes for the TV series Lüthi & Blanc (1999 – 2007) and is a lecturer at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin, among others.
