Biography

In 2009 he directed his first feature, Greek Pete, which premiered at the London Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and won the artistic merit award at Outfest. With Weekend (2011) he won the audience award at the SXSW Film Festival, beginning a brilliant career that included two British Independent Film Awards and the London Film Critics Award for best new director. His third film, 45 Years, earned him the Silver Bear, the European Film Award and the award for best actress at Seminci for its protagonist, Charlotte Rampling, who was also nominated for an Oscar. He has directed episodes for series such as Looking, The OA or The North Water, and after Lean on Pete (2017) premiered in Venice, All of Us Strangers (2023) had its world premiere in Telluride.
