Biography

Oona Laurence started acting at age five in her Dad's film Days Dance, and has since been in films and on stage in both dramatic roles and comedies. On stage in New York she's been Woody's daughter in Woody Guthrie Dreams and won an audience award as a philosophical banana in The Cosmic Fruit Bowl. On film, she's been reincarnated in Reinc., turned the tables on a kidnapper in the Utah high desert in Penny Dreadful (which won 3 dozen awards in festivals worldwide), learned Romanian for Esther, and appeared with F. Murray Abraham and Ralph Macchio in A Little Game, her first feature. She won a Tony and was nominated for a Grammy as one of the original Matildas on Broadway. Since completing her run in MATILDA, she has wrapped shooting on The Grief of Others with director Patrick Wang, and workshopped the role of Young Amelie in a new musical based on the movie AMELIE. This past summer, Oona starred in the 2015 SXSW hit Lamb opposite actor/director Ross Partridge, and was named a breakout star of the festival.
Oona shot the boxing drama Southpaw as "Leila Hope", daughter of Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. Currently, she in New Zealand shooting the newly created role of "Natalie" in Disney's Pete's Dragon, the remake of the 1977 classic children's movie.
Oona credits her dad who is a dedicated NY actor with helping her prepare for roles and auditions and her mom for keeping her healthy in mind and spirit and making sure she eats nutritious healthy food. When not working, Oona spends much of her free time with her sisters, Aimee and Jeté, who are also up and coming young actresses. They love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, biking and running and they are all singers and dancers as well. Oona is represented by CESD Talent Agency, ZOOM Talent Management and Peikoff/Mahan.
