Biography

Vladimir Mashkov (b. 1963, Novokuznetsk, USSR) was born into a theatrical family. After graduating in 1990 from the school of the Moscow Art Theatre (MCHAT), he cooperated with Oleg Tabakov's studio theatre. Today, in addition to acting, he directs for the stage. He debuted as a movie director with the lyrical comedy Sympathy Seeker (Sirota kazanskaya, 1997), screened, like many other films in which he appeared, at Karlovy Vary. He has won several acting awards. Filmography as actor (Russian productions): Me Ivan, You Abraham (Moi Ivan, toi Abraham, 1993), Limita (1994), American Daughter (Amerikanskaya doch, 1995), The Thief (Vor, 1997), Two Moons, Three Suns (Dve luny, tri solntsa, 1998), Mama (1999), The Captain's Daughter (Russkij bunt, 2000). His filmography also includes successful American and coproduction films: Dancing at the Blue Iguana (2000), 15 Minutes (2001), The Quickie (2001), American Rhapsody (2001), Behind Enemy Lines (2001) and Tycoon (Oligarkh, 2002). He also played Rogozhin in the popular TV series "The Idiot" (2003).
