Biography

BA in Audivisual Arts by the University of Guadalajara. Member of the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy since 2018. Member of the National System of Art Creators (Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte) since 2017. Sofía Carrillo participated in the revision workshop Cine Qua Non Lab 2019 for scripts in Spanish. Animator and director of the anthology vignettes: Terror XX Pasión por el terror, directed by Jovanka Vuckovic, Annie Clark, Roxanne Benjamin and Karin Kusama (2017). Animator and director of Cerulia (2017), winner of the Silver Ariel prize in 2018, and more than 20 national and international awards. Director and animator of La Casa Triste (2013), winner of the Ojo award for best animated short at FICM 11, best animated shortfilm Quartered and Drawn in Fantastic Fest Austin, Texas; the jury’s special prize at La Habana’s Film Festival (2014). Director and animator of Prita Noire (2011), winner ex aequo for best animated short in FICM’s 9th edition, best animated shortfilm in San Diego’s Latino Film Festival (2011), best Latin-American animated shortfilm in Chilemonos (2012), winner of the Silver Ariel for best animated short in the 54th Ariel’s edition in 2012.
