Plots(1)
Fun little farce features Ewell as an aging war hero, now a television writer married to the somewhat younger North, an ex-WAC herself. Despite his best efforts, the Air Force calls him up, though he is rejected eventually for medical reasons. But North is accepted, and Ewell becomes a sort of male serviceman's wife, stuck on the base while his wife is out on patrols. He schemes to get her out of the military, failing every time, until nature solves the problem when North gets pregnant. Ewell is hilarious in his follow-up to THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH, handling the role of the frustrated husband with a wonderful sense of frenzy. Tashlin's script and direction are at their usual best, keeping the dialog witty and making a few forays into slapstick. Fun for all. (official distributor synopsis)
