In the attic of the house where he lives, grammar-school student Pavel is hiding a Jewish girl of the same age who refused to join a transport. The two young people fall in love but their relationship is fatally affected by the repressions following the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. The girl's presence in the house is posing a threat to the lives of all the tenants. When her hideaway is exposed, the desperate girl chooses voluntary death in the hands of German soldiers.
