Cameraman Jaroslav Brabec's third feature involves a family drama set in a village in the recent past. An unfortunate accident brings about the death of a farmer's wife. Their four-year-old son then becomes attached to a young chicken and his mother returns to him in his dreams. The father begins a new relationship, but this, too, is destroyed through further tragedy. (official distributor synopsis)

Usually, I quite like old Czech movies, but it was not the case with this one. Perhaps it was due to the actors, who were not all a great fit for the part. But mostly it was due to the story and the way it was told, which did not dazzle me at all. Karel Roden was, however, excellent and if nothing else, he does not disappoint under any circumstances. ()
