Temple Street, one of the most famous streets in Hong Kong, has a 24-hour economy, five temples and a sultry nightlife. Amidst the bustle, the small Mido Restaurant has been a quiet, culinary refuge for two generations. In fragmented succession, Dragon Inn, the Hideout in Temple Street introduces some of the most remarkable locals who patronise the restaurant. There's the street preacher who has found a new goal in life by preaching the gospel, and a psychiatric patient aspiring to a martial arts career like Bruce Lee's. Other specimens are the florist who cannot stop sleeping around and the drug addict who keeps saying he will soon quit. Meanwhile, the restaurant owners run their feet off and rarely get mixed up in the lives of their customers. The dynamic images and music underscore the exuberant street scenes. Bit by bit, the characters' life stories come together like in a jigsaw puzzle, creating a scale model of modern society. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
