Baby, I Will Make You Sweat

Since 1966 Birgit Hein collaborated with Wilhelm Hein in making several films, performances and installations. She was also one of the founders of XSCREEN in Cologne, an exhibition space providing a stage for subcultures. Furthermore she has several publications to her name about experimental and underground film. Baby i will make you sweat is a very personal search for sexuality, morality and femininity, while Birgit Hein (1941) puts her own age at stake. She particularly wants to jolt the double moral standard towards the sexuality of aging men and women. For her, the process of growing old does not necessarily have to involve shame. The film was initially shot on video and later transferred to film from a screen, which is why the images have lost their contrast and have taken on an almost picturesque nature.
