Just two years after their divorce hearing, Julia and Tom Ludwig are back in court. This time the judge has to decide who will have custody of their nine-year-old daughter, Annie. When questioned, the little girl becomes absolutely panic-stricken - because she would rather die than live with her father. What could possibly have made Annie reject her father so vehemently? In flashbacks, the film at first shows a harmonious family. We see Julia as a committed, loving mother, while Tom is a good father who has a very close relationship with Annie. But gradually it becomes clear that Julia is systematically undermining Tom’s attempts to be a dependable father, while cleverly manipulating the girl until she herself rejects Tom. When he discovers what’s been going on, he begins to fight back, but by then it’s far too late for Annie. (Filmfest München)
