The spectacular life and times of Toulouse-Lautrec, his painting and party-going, his lust for life and sympathy for outcasts and prostitutes, and around him, a sweeping portrait of the 19th century, which he lived through with such style and bravado. (Les Films du Losange)

English The setting of the Parisian Bohemian lifestyle is naturally an enticing subject for a biographical film about a famous painter who spent a significant part of his life drinking and indulging in affairs. However, I feel that the authors might have embellished his true story a bit, making the reality seem more mundane. Elsa Zylberstein is one of my favorite actresses, for whom I have a great fondness, and in Lautrec, she got a truly significant opportunity. Because of this, I give the film a 75% overall rating. ()
