Plots(1)
The actors Susan Hayward and Lena Horne were both born in Brooklyn on June 30, 1917. Both had roles in musicals for 20th Century Fox, but the fact is that one was white and the other black, which had an enormous impact on their careers. By watching two of their most famous films in parallel, Horne’s Stormy Weather and Hayward’s With a Song in My Heart, the greater and lesser structures of racism in Hollywood are brought to light.
