A Home Away from Home

In a concert in Kolkata in January 2015, New York jazz musicians Michael Attias and Jim Black improvise with two masters of Northern Indian classical music, Subhajyoti Guha and Sougata Roy Chowduhury – a realization of John Coltrane’s multicultural theory of musical transcendence, made possible by global Internet access. The film follows the progress of the quartet’s breakthrough beyond musical genres, starting from their first meeting in Santiniketan, the hometown of poet Rabindranath Tagore.
