Plots(1)

When a bored young woman in a sleepy country town receives a series of photographs of visciously murdered women, the Police can’t tell whether they are real or staged. There are no bodies or any evidence to match these “crimes”.  Are they the work of deranged mind or of a serial killer? It doesn’t matter to sleazy celebrity photographer Peter Hemmings, who’s been inspired by their “artistry” and comes to town to investigate. (Defiant Screen Entertainment)

English The trailer definitely promised more fun. The Girl in the Photographs had a huge potential to become a quality, gritty and bleak horror film, but the director couldn't handle such a big bite properly. The film has solid visuals, a decent soundtrack, two decent psychopaths with very good masks and every time they appear the atmosphere and tension works perfectly, but they are not on the scene too often and the director unfortunately saved the bloody games for the end, which is a pity because the gore scene in the bed is one of the best in recent times. At times boring, drawn out and not very interesting, but I commend certain attributes. 55% ()

English When The Girl in the Photographs takes a turn and starts to become just another massacre, it honestly gets quite dull because it's just another slasher that doesn't bring anything different or unexpected to the table. The final photo is quite nice, but waiting for it throughout the entire movie doesn't seem like a proportionately worthwhile use of one’s time. It's a shame because this could have been something along the lines of Italian giallo. ()
