The documentary Letting Go of Adele is the story of Marty and her dog Adele who has saved Marty's life every day for the past nine years. Marty has a heart condition that makes her faint on a daily basis, causing injuries to her head and anxiety about living a normal life. When medications and contemporary medical advice couldn't work to alleviate her symptoms, Marty turned to an alternate opportunity. Service dogs, once used primarily to aid the blind, are now used more and more for people who suffer from neurological disorders. But Adele is the first cardiac alert service dog, and she stopped Marty's fainting altogether. The relationship between Marty and Adele is a special one, and Letting Go of Adele is a love letter to those furry family members in our lives who save us daily. Chronicling Marty's struggles with having to retire Adele and find a new service dog, this beautiful and touching film reminds us letting go can be more inspiring than holding on.
