Plots(1)

Based on the testimonies of detained Syrian protesters and the regime interrogators who tortured them, There Are No Brothers Here tells the story of Rami, a young and frightened revolutionary and Mustafa, a volatile secret police agent, struggling to wrest control of their own fates and that of their country from each other's hands. Mustafa threatens to imprison Rami for crimes he did not commit, while Rami tries to win the interrogator over to his cause. Although the pair shares a brief human moment, ultimately they realize that they are both trapped in their roles, destined to take opposite sides in the battle over the future of Syria, even if it destroys them both. They come to see that the one thing they have in common is that neither of them is free. (Bushwick Film Festival)
