Apart from film, Herzog is also fascinated by opera. He made his debut as an opera director with Busoni’s Doctor Faustus, before directing the opera Lohengrin for the Richard Wagner Festival in Bayreuth in 1987. In Die Verwandlung der Welt in Musik, he filmed behind the scenes of the annual Wagner festival, which is a great name in opera circles and lasts as long as one month. In his film, Herzog tries to disclose the mysteries of the opera. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
