It's quite normal, I would say even ordinary sci-fi B-movie that doesn't offer great effects or a particularly brilliant story but still tries to convey an idea to the viewer. I actually liked that, although it was sometimes a bit too obvious. I'll forget about it soon, but it also didn't offend me.
