This Land Is Our Land

This short film looks at life in Myanmar outside the usual tourist trail. In a country where farming is the traditional livelihood, the government is seizing land more and more frequently. Small farmers are given only negligible compensation and thus lose their livelihoods. Factories and mines now rise up on the land they have cultivated their whole lives, unsettling families who have not yet migrated to the cities to find work. The film follows five farmers, giving us a look into their everyday lives and reflections about the future. (One World)
