This HBO documentary features sixteen accomplished members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in America as they speak their minds about a variety of issues from identity to equality. A diverse cross-section of interviewees share personal and professional stories, both heart-wrenching and triumphant, of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer experience in The Out List. In this enlightening onehour portrait of contemporary gay life in America, director-producer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders films an extraordinary array of people of varying backgrounds and experiences. From actor Neil Patrick Harris to athlete Wade Davis and politician Christine Quinn to the Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears, the subjects speak to the unique struggles and triumphs they have faced. The film consists of intimate first-person vignettes covering a number of topics – from the pressing issue of marriage rights, to religion and culture, to family and politics. These successful "out" Americans set an inspired example for future generations, and will move and engage a broad audience. (official distributor synopsis)
