The battle took place not only at sea, but also in the jungle. Kokoda Front Line (1942) shows Australian soldiers in action on New Guinea. This documentary was meant to show the home front how rough a time their soldiers were having and that the Japanese should not be underestimated. "he's a well trained soldier, well disciplined and brave." The cameraman Damien Parer became a national hero, also because under tough conditions he had helped save a wounded soldier.
