Plots(1)

A poor fisherman catches the golden fish that promises him to fulfil three wishes if he sets her free again. He does so and the fish fulfils two of his three wishes. However, she refuses to fulfil the third one, the last one in which the fisherman's wife wants to be equal to God. Trnka made this picture according to Werich's version of the tale. Werich himself is the narrator. (official distributor synopsis)

English Congenial and everyone's favorite Trnka-Werich connection. National identity named in a popular fable. The audio version also exists because it can do without the picture. ()

English The artwork is beautiful, but if it were just a bit more animated instead of merely cutting to static images - although the editing is good - then I'd give it 100%. It gets "only" 90%, but it's still an experience. Werich is an excellent storyteller, and here he confirms it with a wonderful tale, which is a beautiful fable with an excellent ending. ()
