What sort of reasons could be powerful enough to drive a man to suicide? The film explores this question through the story of writer Yukio Mishima. Revered writer, Mishima kidnapped, along with a group of people, a major Japanese commander on November 25, 1970. With such an action he intended to promote a coup to return powers to the Emperor. However, he finds no support and is teased, so he decides to undergo the seppuku: with a ceremonial sword he opens his own stomach while a friend cuts his head.
