In 1879, poor orphan Felicie Milliner (Elle Fanning) leaves her orphanage in Brittany with her best friend Victor (Dane DeHaan) and moves to Paris where she dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. She enrols as a ballet pupil at the Paris Opera and is taken in by its kind caretaker Odette (Carly Rae Jepsen) but despite trying to achieve her dreams Felicie finds life tough at her prestigious and competitive dance school. With the help and support of Victor and Odette, will Felicie be able to realise her dreams in the big city? (Entertainment One)

A nice dose of humor, a nice dose of light drama, a bit of sadness, but in the end, a proper dose of happiness, which was to be expected because this film must have a happy ending. The characters are designed too pleasingly, but they just clicked for me, and I was rooting for things to turn out well for the main heroine. The film's setting helps.
