The engineer Sándorffy Péter of Kolozsvár, having conducted crucial research to complete his most significant invention in the service of his factory in Africa, returns home fatally wounded by the poisonous spike of a native flower to finish his last experiments. He is accompanied by Maya, the French doctor. His illness being contagious, he wishes to avoid contact with the ones he loves. He pretends to be the lover of the beautiful doctor. He carries out his work in the factory with the help of intensive health care, showing superhuman efforts. The experiment is successful. Péter enters the city hospital to die. Maya calls Júlia, his loving wife, who stays with him until his death. (official distributor synopsis)
