The most popular Finnish film of all times is the adaptation of no less famous 1954 novel by Väinö Linna. With Schweikian humour, but also the criticism of the military machinery and the senselessness of fighting it follows the fates of a machine-gun company during the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union in the years 1941-1944.
