The old, sickly Lapussa Demeter is a tyrant in the family. He forces his granddaughter, the beautiful Henriette, to marry baron Hátszegi, although the girl loves the penniless Vámhidy Szilárd. The two lovers attempt to commit suicide, then are torn away from each other. The baron takes the girl to Transylvania. The region is held in fear by the mysterious, masked outlaw, Fatia Negra. It is revealed that he is no one else but baron Hátszegi. Fatia is unfaithful to his secret lover, Anica, and she denounces him to the gendarmerie. The man tries to escape, but when he attempts to rob his own wife, Henriette reveals his true identity. The young woman becomes mad as a result of her experiences, and her husband keeps her under lock and key. In the meantime, the pursuers led by Vámhidy get on Fatia's trail. After the great showdown, Hátszegi/Fatia commits suicide. (official distributor synopsis)
